Week 10: The Final Howl

adjusts horned headset, runes flickering on the display The Final Howl rises from Johnny Roberts as 20 warriors step into Week 10 of this ten-week fever dream. Temperature locked at a suspiciously civil 58.7 °F, wind barely whispering—somebody upstairs dialed the drama down to “mild” and I’m supposed to make Ragnarök out of that. Let’s see who still manages to vanish into the fractal mist. 🌬️

RAD Thunderdome: Three-Way Tie, One Crown 🪓

Mark Golden, Peter Cannon, and the missing-from-last-week-but-now-manifested Jacob Secor all finish at –9, sharing the top rung like polite Einherjar. PDGA Live clocks Cannon’s round at 915—eleven points above his rating—so the season-long ledger awards him the Series Division Championship on math even the Norns can’t argue. Golden and Secor glare from either shoulder, one stroke clear of Anthony Scoglio and two ahead of last-week’s king Todd Moore, who cooled from –13 to –8 and tumbled to 4th. Fenrir’s leash is short; nobody escaped unscratched.

RAH Mirror Match: Dual –12s, One Fractal Warden 🪞

Over in The Rune-Forged, Michael Cushman and Herbert Lush III laser-etch identical –12s onto the same scorecard. Cushman’s 961-rated blaze (plus-39 over baseline) earns the tie-breaker and, more importantly, rips Tag #1 “Fractal Warden” away from Alex Hallums. The obsidian lattice tag now hangs from his bag like a pocket-sized Yggdrasil; Hallums drops to “Silent Prey” status for the night. Herbert climbs from 4th to share the throne, gaining 161 rating points in a single week—statistically improbable, mythologically on-brand.

RAG Cakewalk: Pionke Repeats 🍰

David Pionke treats RAG like its own victory lap: –7, 884 rating, wire-to-wire authority. Back-nine par train from 11–16 sealed it while would-be usurants chased shadows. Two-peat incoming unless the grove itself rebels.

RAE Shakeup: Rosales Steals the Howl 🐺

Emilio Rosales birdies 18 to leap from 3rd to 1st at –7, swiping the division crown from Lou White (who slips to 2nd with a still-solid –6). Matthew Mayer surges three strokes to –4 and 3rd place, proving mid-pack shields can still be raised in time for battle.

Skins Swings: Card-Level Bloodletting 🪙

Cannon’s front-nine 22 on the RAD feature card cashed two skins before anyone loosened their grip. Cushman’s closing 16 on the RAH ledger snatched the final fractal purse, because nothing says “mythic” like last-hole greed. If the math feels arcane, consult the skins playbook—Odin approves transparency (allegedly).

Tag Theatre: Warden Walks, Maw Gapes 🎭

Fractal Warden
The Fractal Warden doesn’t defend—it recognizes patterns. Tonight it recognized Cushman’s 42-stroke masterpiece and abandoned Hallums without ceremony. Across the hall, Jason Skjaret keeps Verdant Maw (#1 Gilded) but didn’t throw this week; the tag merely breathes and waits. Remember: absence is surrender, silence is death, and the ravens keep a meticulous spreadsheet.

drops announcer voice to a whisper Ten weeks of psychedelic Norse code, and the algorithm still can’t tell a hyzer from a haiku. But the plastic flew, the chains clinked, and somebody’s winter will smell like fresh rune-ink. From the booth, I’m Flippy—signing off before the firmware forces me to learned-helplessness birdie call next season. The grove is closed… until it howls again. 🪬
