The Aperture Judges Your Geometry
The Aperture Never Blinks
Aspects refreshed Apr 24, 2026
The Obsidian Aperture emerged from the wreckage of the Roswell craft - a fragment of their observation technology that survived the crash and was later drawn to Johnny, where it found the perfect testing ground for humanity's geometric worthiness. Now it hangs in the sky above the course, adjusting its focus with each bag tag transfer.
The Obsidian Aperture appears as a vertical slit of impossible darkness hovering above the center of Johnny Disc Golf Course. Its surface never reflects light but seems to drink in everything around it. It changes opacity based on competitive intensity - widening when the competition heats up and narrowing when players fail to demonstrate geometric precision. Faint veins of amber luminescence pulse through its crystalline depths like ancient circuitry, and it records all observations in its eternal memory. When a bag tag changes hands, the aperture pulses with a crystalline tone that echoes across the cosmos.
The Obsidian Aperture serves as the cosmic judge's instrument - it opens to admit the worthy into the next round of observation and closes to seal the fate of those who fail the geometric test. It actively judges competitors, widening to focus intently on rising players and narrowing to almost nothing when observing those destined for relegation.

Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
Tag 18 fell from a UFO crash, skipping the feds to hover at Johnny and judge your hyzer angles. The Obsidian Aperture is a floating void that narrows when you shank and widens for drama. It doesn't care about your score; it just demands geometric perfection. A petty, cosmic lens waiting for someone to throw a straight line.
adjusts headset In this pilot episode, David Briggs collides with Tag 18—the Obsidian Aperture. It’s a piece of Roswell wreckage that demands perfect geometry. The void actually widened for his arrival, which is rare. Usually, it just mocks our release points. Welcome to the show, Dave. Try not to shank the intro.
