Wagon Scars
Scars That Speak Louder Than Names
The Mountain Doesn't Negotiate
Aspects refreshed Apr 25, 2026
Wagon Scars first appeared when the original wagon trains began their westward journey - the trail itself inflicted wounds on those who dared pass, and those scars became the first proof of passage. Each league (plains, rivers, mountains, promised land) adds its mark to the bearer's record, building a cumulative testament to endurance that grows with every mile pressed westward.
Wagon Scars manifests as a weathered leather patch seared with iron-brand markings, each groove and burn representing a league successfully crossed. The visual colors shift from dusty tan across the plains, through river-slate gray after fording the crossings, to mountain-oxblood in the high passes, finally settling into promised-land gold at the journey's end. The scars grow more pronounced with each league survived, never fading - only deepening.
Wagon Scars serves as the ultimate arbiter of Homesteader versus Drifter status - the scars cannot be counterfeited, borrowed, or inherited. Only those who have genuinely passed through all four leagues carry the full mark. In the arena of competitive survival, this entity distinguishes the proven from the pretenders, the names burned into the ledger of survivors from those who faded into unwritten hollows.
