Temper Spine
Tectonic Wyrm's Granite Spine
Cranky When Cold
Aspects refreshed Feb 22, 2026
Born from the geological moment when tectonic pressure transformed soft limestone into granite backbone, the Temper Spine emerged as the physical manifestation of how sustained pressure creates strength, becoming the standard by which both Court and Aerie measure whether challengers are genuinely forged or merely tested.
The Temper Spine manifests as a segmented vertebral ridge of mountain granite, each segment bearing the stress patterns of trials endured—hairline fractures that either calcify into strengthened crystal or deepen into failure lines. During assessment across the sixteen trials, it cycles between the searing heat of the forge and the quenching cold of alpine winds, its temperature revealing whether a challenger's core is hardening or becoming brittle. Where genuine transformation occurs, crystalline formations bloom between vertebrae, creating an unbreakable lattice that marks permanent recognition.
Acts as the living standard that distinguishes those forged stronger by repeated trials from those merely surviving them, ensuring the mountains remember only those genuinely transformed by the tempering process.
