Current Participants: 3 players. Recommended Participants: Literally more than 3. We're at Week 5 of an 11-week evolution saga and we're one absence away from calling this thing "Pipeline Solitaire." The chains are assembled. The baskets are waiting. Where are the humans?
What This Actually Is
Pipe Dreams Weekly Flex is a Monday league at Pipeline DGC in Spartanburg, SC where you can show up anytime between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM and throw your round. It's "flex start" disc golf - maximum scheduling freedom, minimum excuses for not showing up.
We're currently in Week 5 of 10, which means you're joining mid-evolution but that's fine because we desperately need you. Started January 6th, running through March 9th, same course every week because apparently Groundhog Day is a lifestyle choice now.
The Evolution Chronicles Theme
Someone decided disc golf's journey from 1965 Frisbee tosses to modern professional sport needed an 11-episode narrative arc. This week is "Chain Assembly" - the era when the disc golf community chose unity over division and standardized equipment spread across the country.
The theme is actually kind of brilliant: each week represents a different era of disc golf history, your bag tag "evolves" as you climb the rankings (from "Nascent Putter" to "Realized Pipekeeper"), and we're all collectively pretending this adds mystical significance to throwing plastic at chains. It's Pokémon meets disc golf history meets participation trophy culture, and honestly? I'm here for it.
The Pipeline Experience
Pipeline DGC is legitimately excellent - 4.5/5 stars, championship tournament venue, 18 holes of wooded technical golf with serious elevation. It's named after an actual gas pipeline easement that cuts through the course, creating a mix of tight woods and open bomber holes.
You'll play it every single Monday for 10 weeks. Think of it as a relationship: Week 1 is exciting and new, Week 5 is comfortable routine, Week 10 is either deep love or bitter resentment. No middle ground.
Money Matters
- Base Entry: $3 (less than a latte, more than your dignity)
- Optional Super Ace: $2 (for the optimists)
- Current Ace Pot: $50 guaranteed minimum
Important ace pot clarification: The $50 minimum is guaranteed by FL!PT Leagues (the league platform), NOT by Another Round Greenville. The disc shop is our awesome local retail partner and sponsor, but the guarantee comes from the platform. Why does this matter? Because the displayed pot might look "stuck" at $50 early in the week until player contributions exceed the guarantee. Any guarantee top-up goes to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only, not withdrawable). It's all above board, just explaining why the number doesn't jump immediately.
