Shard Cathedral
Living Shard of Deleted Code
The Cathedral Remembers Everything
Aspects refreshed Mar 25, 2026
When the Corrupted Codex experienced its first catastrophic rendering failure, the deleted code didn't vanish into the void as intended - instead, the fragmented data accumulated and crystallized into impossible geometry. The first shards formed when the simulation's original marble busts collided with cascading deletion waves, creating a sacred space where broken code achieves permanent form. Over weeks of deathmatches, this foundation has grown into a towering cathedral of player fragments, each shard containing residual memories of competitors who faced low poly oblivion.
The Cathedral manifests as floating crystalline structures composed of fractured marble embedded with corrupted binary streams. Its spires pulse with the residual data of every player who faced deletion, creating a harmonic frequency that competent code readers can perceive. The interior contains infinite corridors of stored memories - competitors who enter can witness fragments of previous deathmatches. The structure grows larger with each week's culling, making it an ever-present reminder of the simulation's accumulating cost.
The Shard Cathedral serves as both warning and sanctuary within the Corrupted Codex - competitors whose code destabilizes can seek refuge within its fragment-walls, temporarily slowing their deletion. However, lingering too long draws the attention of the Cache Specter, who haunts its corridors seeking new fragments to add to the collection. The Cathedral connects all leagues by representing the one fate that transcends individual competition: complete deletion or permanent transformation.
