Legends speak of the Trail Keeper - an ancient entity that demands payment for passage across all four leagues. Those who survive the crossing emerge hollowed, their old selves rendered down and burned away, leaving only the essential core that can endure. The Hollow Covenant is the iron mark of this exchange, seared into those who have honored the bargain and been found worthy of continuation.

A leather cord worn smooth by countless hands and weather, terminating in a hollow iron pendant - once solid that the trail itself has burned empty. The pendant's interior shows the residue of what was rendered away, and the cord bears ash, mud, and blood stains that cannot be scrubbed clean. The iron bears permanent warp from extreme temperature exposure and cannot be sold, traded, or given away - only earned through survival.

This entity serves as the frontier's arbitrator of transformation - those who carry it have passed the test of being hollowed out and refusing to break. Bearers move through all four leagues (plains, rivers, mountains, and promised land) with the hard-won knowledge that survival demands constant rebirth, carrying the weight of what they surrendered and the wisdom gained from being emptied and rebuilt.
