Storm Eyes Remember Every Death

Aspects refreshed Mar 28, 2026
Storm Witness emerged from the first wagon train that attempted the full Oregon route - the sole survivor who watched companions perish in the river crossings, mountain passes, and prairie storms, carrying the weight of their stories forward. They made a vow to witness every journey that followed, to ensure that those who proved worthy would not be forgotten by the indifferent frontier. Now they appear at the threshold of every major crossing, every deadly pass, every storm that threatens to scatter the wagon column to the wind.
Storm Witness manifests as a tall, gaunt figure draped in oilskin and weathered canvas that seems to have been borrowed from a dozen failed expeditions - the fabric bears the salt-stains of river crossings and the ash-traces of prairie fires. Their eyes are two chips of storm slate that reflect rather than absorb light, holding within them the gray permanence of clouds that have witnessed every tragedy the frontier can offer. They carry no weapon, no supplies - only the weight of what they have seen. A persistent smell of wet earth and distant lightning precedes their arrival before any storm breaks.
Storm Witness serves as the impartial chronicler of the trail - neither aligned with Homesteaders nor Drifters, but serving the frontier itself. Those who earn recognition from Storm Witness have proven they can withstand the worst the journey offers. Their acknowledgment carries more weight than any ranking, for they have seen the full measure of what survival demands and record only those who have met that standard.
