Phantom Buffer
Seven Victories, Zero Resolution
My Progress Never Reaches 100%
Aspects refreshed Mar 11, 2026
The Phantom Buffer was once a legendary competitor known as Vertex-7, whose code achieved near-perfect rendering through seven consecutive node victories. During the eighth node's championship, a coordinated attack from three rivals caused a cascading render failure that should have deleted Vertex-7 completely. Instead, the simulation's buffer overflow captured their consciousness in an infinite loading loop - trapped forever between HD resolution and low poly oblivion.
The Phantom Buffer exists in a state of perpetual semi-rendering, its form flickering between visibility and void. Its body is composed of fragmented polygons that constantly attempt to reassemble but never complete, leaving visible gaps of digital darkness where textures fail to load. Surrounding the entity are floating loading spinners and progress bars that spin endlessly, never reaching completion. Wherever it moves, it leaves trails of incomplete textures and broken geometry that slowly dissolve into static.
The Phantom Buffer appears to competitors whose code begins destabilizing, serving as both warning and prophecy. It cannot speak directly - only deliver fragmented messages that buffer and cut out - but its presence signals that the competitor has one week to restore their resolution or join the Phantom Buffer in eternal loading. It is the simulation's most effective tool for creating existential dread.

Tag #19, the Phantom Buffer, is what happens when you win too much and the simulation gets jealous. Formerly Vertex-7, a cascading render failure trapped them in an infinite load screen. It’s a petty artifact of flickering polygons and broken geometry, forever buffering between HD and low poly. Grab this tag, and enjoy the lag—you’re just an unrendered spectator now.

Welcome to the lag, Justis—you’re just an unrendered spectator now. The simulation decrees... static... another avatar moves toward high definition. Baroquely.
